Dirty Water Notice #2

Many of you in the areas of Wallis Road and Brackett Road may be experiencing dirty water again this week, our sincere apologies for this inconvienence!

Cause standard procedure flushing has revealed a plume of iron sediment that has accumulated in the previous mentioned areas from high flow usage of the system for fire purpose. This drew normal accumulations of sediment into a more condensed area. Due to an operational error on Tuesday, failure to shut down a valve to stop water flow from two directions, escalated the situation. Friday mornings flushing exercise stirred this plume again. Again our sincere apologies for having to deal with this.

What you can do, run outside hose bib until clear normally takes five to ten minutes, may take longer. Using a external hose bib to perform initial flush is key for it will have a higher flow rate that most internal faucets and reduces pulling more sediment into house. Flushing was halted by 10:00 am, the longer you wait the less time it will take to flush your service line, because the sediment in the the mains will have time to settle out. Once external flush is complete an internal flush can be performed to further remove sediment from household plumbing.

RWD resolve will be to isolate the area of Wallis Road from Washington to Lang's corner on Wednesday (10/16) of next week perform an aggresive flush of that area. It is advised to refrain from using your water between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
